There are many different types of people in the world and sometimes you are at the right place at the right time and do something good or you can make wrong decisions and do something that is very bad. The hero and villain I will discuss with you, my audience, is Michael Jordan and Jeffery Dahmer. Two very well known people. Michael Jordan is an idol to not only me but to many other people of many different ages. He was an exceptional basketball player leading the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships and along the way; he was MVP of the league numerous times. He is the best player in my opinion to ever play the game. However, He is not only a good basketball player he is also a good businessman. He was a representative of ballpark hotdogs, Gatorade, and Nike just to name a few. He was always looking for opportunities to make money as any good businessman does. Even now, he is the co-owner of the Washington Wizards. Yet this is not why I look up to him, I look up to this man because he is a hard worker. He put many hours of work into his game everyday, working out to get better even on game days unlike almost everybody in the league. He was always trying to improve. He also was always a good showman. You will never see him in an interview or in a picture with something bad to say or with out a smile on his face. He knew many younger kids looked up to him and he made an effort not to disappoint anyone, always having a good positive mental attitude. He is just an all around exceptional person. The villain I will discuss with you is Jeffery Dahmer. He was a very sick and twisted person. He was a man who not only killed many people in our era but he murdered them in a way that is indescribable. This serial Killer was a cannibal who had his way with his victims. He would tell people he would meet to come up to his apartment and have a drink or dinner and would sadistically lock them up and torture them. Unfortunately, He got away with this behavior for many years especially during the 1980s. Thankfully, he was caught in the latter half of 1991, when one of his victims was still alive and got away and told the cops Dahmer was found with body parts in his freezer and weapons that had been used. He went to trial and eventually to prison and his life was ended in there on November 28, 1994. He was killed by a fellow inmate with apiece if exercise equipment in the shower according to US news and World reports HE was a very disturbed individual causing many people to die a very horrible death. He was a very cruel and viscous villain. In conclusion, Heros really do not have to wear tights and a cape and villains do not have to scheme evil plots against heroes. Michael Jordan is a very well known and great basketball player and businessman. He got to be this way by hard work, which should be a strong point in all of our lives. And Jeffery Dahmer possibly the sickest and most twisted person that I have known of that lives in my lifetime is truly an evil villain to the whole human race. The conceptoof the overman appears to be a contradiction in itself, reflecting the viewsthat Nietzsche himself expresses about the human condition. The creature isdichotomy, seeing himself as superior and a master of his environment, butsim ultaneously he hates his human self, seeing his weaknesses and flaws. In thismanner of representation, one must question if this creature could ever become areality. Cross argues that the overmanis a contradiction in terms of existencewhich cannot be resolved due to the constraints which Nietzsche applies to thishypothetical creature. Cross states, this creature can only succeed innegating himself, and, in essence, can never truly exist at all. Nietzschehas the view that mankind as it exists is a disease of a sickness which isdestroying itself, reflecting the porr nature of a modern man and his lack ofpro-activism, being seen as a purely passive creature unalbe to rebel and definehis life. Nietzsche further argues that the passive reaction of the occurrencesin society are the result of the Christian religion (Cross, 2). Nietzches viewof mans sickness reveals itself very strongly in The Antichrist, but The Willto Power also displays his view. This book reflects Nietzsches belief that allcreatures, whatever they are, have a requirement and a need to follow commandsof some sort. The freedom of the overman is that the individual despises what heis and has been, and in this is able to learn to command himself. However, thisis a difficult and self-destructive process. The perception of the comand overpower is an interesting one; it is not the straight forward meaning of controlover others, but also the control over ones self. In The Will to Power,Nietzsche sees those who look to improve themselves as looking to the will totruth. However, he argues that in doing this, they are not really seeking newvalues, but that htey are trying to find a way of bringing all men under thesame code of understanding. In effect, they are bringing them all further to theweaknesses for which he blames Christianity. Nietzsche says he believes that aman who acts out of laziness, or does not act for the same reason is bad, andthis passive stance allows the weaknesses of society to become m ore entrenchedand accepted, this becoming of a self-fulfilling prophecy the more it happens,the more it will cause its continuation. The passive man does not displayobedience to himself, but to society. The overman is obedient to himself,arguably hte hardest type of obedience. Mumford sees the development of modern technology as having occurred in three distinct phases—greatly oversimplifying, one could say that the phases represent the shift from â€Å"wood and water† to â€Å"coal and iron† and finally to â€Å"alloy and electricity†. The work is also intensely concerned with the relationship between war and technology. Though the book was written in 1934, its insights transcend the decades and are surprisingly applicable today. An issue concerning us right now, Mumford talks at length about the influences of war on technological advancement, in fact, "at every stage in its modern development it was war rather than industry and trade that showed in complete outline the main features that characterize the machine." One of the biggest areas infringing on a patient’s privacy would be the prescription health information that is being released by pharmacists and the way in which that information is used.Information is given to a wide variety of entities and to individuals, which raises enormous concern about the privacy rights of patients, especially considering the fact that the patient has not given consent for the release of this information. Legislative and judicial attention is being given on how to protect privacy identifiable information on prescription data and the harm that can be done by the release of this information. There is a lot of focus on exploring privacy issues with regard to personal health information (PHI), especially with the prescription drugs containing so much information. The computerized databases in a pharmacy collect a host of patient information including the patient’s address, the patient’s name, the date it was filled, the place it was filled, the patient’s gender and age, the prescribing physician, what drug was prescribed, the dosage, and how many pills. How a patient’s information is used once it is de-identified most likely doesn’t even cross anyone’s mind because most patients don’t realize that anyone other than the pharmacist, the doctor, and the insurance company for processing the claim, are going to see it.There is a long list of companies and individuals that want the patient prescription PHI, including lawyers, educators, researches that are performing clinical trials, marketing purposes, government officials, and employers. The article, Somebody’s Watching Me, lays the groundwork in legally developing the framework for protecting the privacy of patient prescription PHI, especi ally the information on de-identified PHI. There are 5 parts to the legal framework.Part 1 basically states why there is a need for federal legislation to step in to help protect both patient prescription PHI, and de-identified patient prescription PHI. Part II shows the process of how the information is collected and used. Part III talks about federal and state laws that are currently in existence to protect a patient’s privacy rights, with a focus on three state statutory attempts that would curb information being used for marketing purposes, and the Supreme Court and circuit court responses.Part IV looks at the existing laws regarding unauthorized disclosure of patient prescription PHI. This is a more intense look at all of the statutes, ethical guidelines, federal and state statutes and laws, and other option for protecting a patient’s privacy. Part V suggests having a federal statute allowing patients to control the use of their information for both patient prescr iption PHI, and de-identified PHI. Most people would think that de-identified PHI would be protected because it is encrypted before it is transferred to others not authorized to access the identifiable information.Unfortunately, there are ways such as geo-coding that allows others to re-identify the information. Even if a company sells the data information that they have and they state that personal information is not to be used by third parties, there is no guaranty that the purchaser will uphold the agreement. In today’s technological society it is difficult to have a program that will continue to make re-identification impossible, especially if an individual’s privacy was once breached by re-identification. Encryptions are codes and codes are broken all the time.Moreover, encryption requires use of a key or cipher, which is used to lock and unlock the hidden data. Such a key is necessary to allow the hidden data to be viewed in an intelligible manner by those who ar e authorized to view it. However, there is always a risk that the encryption key might fall into the wrong hands, thereby allowing the information to be accessed by unauthorized viewers. There are many problems that could arise from a patient’s information landing into the hands of a stranger, a boss, an enemy, or any other individual that does not have permission to view that information.The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) needs to take a hard look at the problems that exist with the identifiable patient prescription PHI, the de-identified patient prescription PHI, and the encrypted prescription PHI. These issues affect the entire population and can have a devastating impact on those that have their personal information get into the wrong hands. If there is an employee who has Aides and they don’t want other worker’s to know, it would be too easy for an employer to obtain that information.The arguments and facts that are used in the article support the proposed solution by stating the problems that arise without having laws in place to protect the privacy rights of patients.
